This is Campaign HQ for my bid to be Secretary of American Mensa.
It's not much, but it's comfy enough.
So why am I running?
American Mensa is doing very very well. Membership is growing and local groups just got a big raise. This means it is an excellent time to trim fat, tighten operations, and look to what might be possible in the future.
We also have some issues:
We've too many rules, they're hard to understand, and change so often, that it's hard for even highly motivated local officers and volunteers to keep current.
Our membership is now just over 50,000 yet by definition there's over 6 Million qualified members in America. A 2% market share would give us 60,000 members, but a 5% market share would mean 150,000 members. What might it take to get there?
We still have big problems dealing with problem members. It's a bureaucratic gordian knot that needs to be fixed.
Your dues support a 21-member Board of Directors. That's just too big. It's also too expensive.
